What is Bike Fest?
Bike Fest is a larger scale bike repair event started by the PN2K Foundation in Sep 2014. The MIT PN2K club now runs Bike Fest occasionally throughout the year.
What is available for me at the Bike Fest?
You need to be a paying PN2K Member for the below listed services. Note that local shops usually charge upwards of $70 for repairs. Our membership costs help support our labor costs, maintenance costs of equipment, tools, and other operational costs. (Joining our mailing list does not mean you are a paying member). You can pay online or at the door. Please bring a student ID for a discount.
- Minor bike tune-ups and repairs (or more extensive if you're lucky, depending upon the crowd size)
- Clean U-lock station
- Bike pressure washing
- Raffle Prizes
Our Bike Fests include the following free services:
- Free bike safety check (we can do a quick 2-minute assessment on your bike to let you know what needs to be changed/fixed. Anything more requires buying a membership.)
- Free food and music
- Free bike safety information
- Free help with registering your bike with MIT (or do this online yourself)
You do not have to be a paying member to purchase PN2K biking gear, helmets, lights, etc.
Where are your Bike Fests located?
In warmer weather (Spring, Fall, Summer) we hold them at the Student Center Plaza/Front Steps. During the winter (or in rainy/questionable weather), we try to reserve the MIT Z Center Johnson Front Lobby.
