PN2K @ MIT

The group (MIT PN2K) is the MIT chapter of the Phyo Nyi Nyi Kyaw (PN2K) Memorial Foundation, a registered nonprofit in Massachusetts that has been in existence since its incorporation in August 2012. This group exists primarily to focus on bike safety for the MIT community with the goal of decreasing cycling fatalities and serious injuries by holding two large "Bike Safety @ MIT" events each year (in the Fall and Spring), as well as year-round bike safety awareness events. Our bike safety events will be interactive and educate MIT cyclists on rules of the road. Participants will either jump on Hubway bikes or register their own bikes with MIT PTO (in case bikes are stolen), receive free basic bike tune-ups and necessary bike safety equipment from MIT PN2K/PN2K (example: bike lights, helmets, etc. for free or at a heavily subsidized prices).

MIT PN2K’s other initiative is on youth scholarship. For this, we aim to increase educational opportunities for high-potential students from disadvantaged backgrounds. We will partner with MIT organizations, such as MIT Amphibious Achievement, and outside nonprofits and institutions to develop innovative (STEM) educational programs and opportunities for high-potential students who may not otherwise have such access to educational resources.
